The solution seems really obvious to me.
of course it requires Oklahoma to participate. Not so easy. GOR also a stumbling block.
But, invite TCU, TTU, UT, Oklahoma and OK State, and you've got a five school western pod.
Notre Dame would play in a five school northeast pod with BC, Cuse, Pitt, and Louisville. Let ND play only five ACC games - who cares about perfect scheduling?
There is your 20. Let the Irish do what they want. I wouldn't care. ACC bluebloods will grumble about academics at TTU and OSU, but they'll get over it. Don't know much about OSU but TTU seems like a pretty good school anyway.
That is the kind of move we are paying Swofford to make. That move solidifies the ACC as the biggest and most powerful conference in the country. It also leaves no meaningful acquisition targets for the other conferences (OK, Kansas is significant).
